"Exploring the Spacious Volkswagen Touareg: A Large SUV Overview" #CarTalk #AutoWorld #VW

The Volkswagen Touareg is a large SUV that was designed as a joint project between Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche. The Touareg uses the same architecture as the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus. The Touareg was first developed with the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7, and later with the Audi Q8, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus.

The Touareg uses the VW Group's MLB Evo platform, which is also shared with other non-SUV Audi models. The Touareg's engines come from commercial vehicles and other Volkswagen brands. The most powerful version, a V10 TDI engine, was used in an advertising stunt where the car towed a Boeing 747.

The Touareg was discontinued after the 2017 model year.

Volkswagen discontinued the Touareg in the United States for the 2018 model year. The Touareg is still available in other markets, and a new generation is coming on the Audi Q7's platform. However, there are no plans to reintroduce the Touareg to the U.S.

The Touareg was discontinued in North America due to sales and the availability of the larger and less expensive Atlas. The Atlas was specifically designed for the United States and replaced the Touareg in 2018. The Atlas has room for seven, while the Touareg has room for five.

The Touareg is the same under the skin as the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, and both these models are also being updated. In the future, it's likely that the Touareg will be replaced by an ID-badged electric SUV.
