Interesting Documentary #Blackinamerica -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

The show aired on Nov 13th on CNN, It was “Black in America”. Documentary was about Blacks trying to start their own Tech Company venture in Silicon Valley, watching that segment was quite interesting. I am a Tech Enthused Black in America as well. I was glad to see the conversation of Blacks being involved with Technology. As it is seen, we are not fully represented in the Tech Field as often as other cultures. How can we change that? I believe we have to believe in ourselves first. Does having a College Degree helps? Well there are many technology people got in the tech business without College Degrees. Surely a Degree does help, but it’s what you do with the degree is what really seems to be best to me. I know people that got their BA degrees and they are in the same place as me, and I have an AAS Degree. I mean, if you going to get a BA Degree, to me I would be trying to utilize the potential the degree can offer you.

Another thing we can do as well; stop stereo-typing each other. I believe we are our on worse enemy. Even in the “ #BlackinAmerica” Documentary, there was a lady who was upset about a mixed couple working together trying to get their business going as well. There is no time to waste any anger about situations similar to that. If anything one should be excited about couples trying to get their business together, and there may be lesson to learn from them as well. Let’s stop the anger and the division, and start the working together, time is too short. Well that’s my two cents. You can way in if you like, just leave me some comments. This was another blog moment -

Just another blog moment -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hey folks, it’s another blog moment. I don’t do many of these blogs, this is the reason it's called an blog moment. Writers have to get inspired to write, when it comes to blogging. I'm still on the PCLinux OS distribution. This Linux version has got me hooked. It just do what it does. I do appreciate the OS. I will be checking out other Linux versions. In fact an online friend of mine, suggested that I check out a different one, that he is testing now. Currently the one I’m on is so smooth; doing bash scripting on there, is the best.

What’s going on the tech news today? I see Mainstream media was played yesterday. They thought Apple was going to share their new iPhone 5 product, and instead, they talked the iPhone 4S. Mainstream media have no clue of technology in general. They just don’t follow it enough. Usually they only focus on it for about 5 minutes that’s it. What ever happen to Tech TV. The real Tech TV. Welp as I always say, this is just my 2 cents. “Another blog moment”. Hey stay tuned for my Production on Youtube, called “just for fun” Production.

Come Big Government you say you trying to save jobs?

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hey folks, it’s another blog moment, today the President wants his job bill to be passed, and the Government is interfering with a private sector company that’s trying to keep jobs afloat. I do not understand that. I mean are we crazy or what, the American people is not stupid, we can see when big business get big, Big Government wants to regulate it. I feel this is not the time for FCC or DOJ to be in federal court to stop the merger of AT&T and T-mobile. AT&T is trying to save jobs, and help T-mobiles customers have goods and services. In this economy whirlwind, we don’t need another private sector company going under because it can’t keep up with competition. So why not merge. If AT&T can keep jobs and save T-mobile customers for getting their service disrupted, they should merge, and Big Government should welcome it. It seems Big Government say one thing, and then do another, that is not right. That’s my 2 cents on it. What a blog moment.

Still using the PC Linux OS, very good OS for a linux distro -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Well it’s time for another blog moment, although this time, I don’t have much to say. I’m still in the likeable mood with “PC-Linux OS aka – Phoenix”. It’s still the Linux Distro of choice. It just simply do what it does. No issue to report with it or nothing. I mean this Linux is built with some toughness. I love the desktop environment, “XFCE4”, Smooth-operations; the people at PC-Linux OS did a good job building this from scratch. It is a wonderful piece of work.

I am thinking about getting me the Go-Flex USB external hard drive, power my Seagate. Seagate has a good idea with the Go-flex; you might want to check them out. See I told you, keeping it short and simple. What a blog moment .

Linux integration - glad i got it -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Well Hello again..I am inspired to write another blog moment. Today, I was working on a clients computer, and they lost communication and activity to their Window Vista Machine. They knew my wife, and of course my wife told them maybe I can get them back in order. First thing I notice about the machine, that it was moving slowly on performance wise… so I suspect it was probably some kind of malware or spyware causing the issue(but for the sake of this blog, I’m not going to tell the whole story). Even after a bit rebooting in safe mode, it was very slow bringing the desktop up. They told me, do what I can to get the machine back in working order; they also wanted their data backup as well. I told them to get an external USB drive to help in the backup process. I was very excited they took my and wife advice and they got a ” Free-agent Go-FLex Seagate external USB drive”. This Drive is awesome… I believe I need to get me one. They got a 500GB drive, but it’s works well for quick backups. Well since their machine hanged even in safe mode, it was time to bring out the Linux Integration, using “PCLinux OS” Live CD, I managed to backup their data. Proving once again Linux will save the day, when there’s a windows issue. Well… this concludes this blog moment for now, always remember, it’s just my 2 cents.

PC-Linux OS aka Phoenix - impressive -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hello again folks, wow… how time flies, as they say, when you are having fun. Well for me time just flies. Hey… well, let me tell you, finally I changed Linux Distros, no longer using Fedora 15. However, I’m currently using “PC-Linux OS aka – Phoenix” – and wow, what a different in style, performance, and just the overall feel of the OS. First off, let me share with you the desktop environment itself. It’s not “GNOME” that's for sure. In fact to me, it is a-lot better than GNOME 3. XFCE 4 is the desktop environment starter point for “PC-Linux OS”, it feel s like “KDE” environment. I like the style of it, and it’s performance is outstanding, under a “ 1 GB” of ram system. This system I’m running “PC-Linux OS” on is a old, with a 40GB HDD, and 1 GB Ram, the performance is medium but does the trick of running Linux Distros of choosing. I loaded all the software I like to use under this OS, however you will have to know which package manager to use, especially if you going to use the command line interface for it. It does have the Synaptic Package Manager frontend installed for your software installs and downloads, if you don’t like the CLI approach. How can you not like CLI, if in you in the world of UNIX and Linux. Well… this concludes this blog moment for now, always remember, it’s just my 2 cents.

Fedora 15 experience - Experiencing Fedora -

Hi I’m KG the Techie -

Hello folks, it’s another blog moment, time to share with you my experience using fedora release 15 (lovelock) edition. I have used this OS (Operating System) for about 2 months now. The one thing I notice, it works much better on 1GB of Ram then 512 MB. So when I upgraded the ram to 1 Gigabytes, the OS flourish. However that happens with any OS in general, respectfully, the more RAM you have, the better the performance of the OS. Performance level is sluggish some-times, as some applications seems to lock up don’t respond. I know in pass Linux distos if an app lock up, it wouldn’t bog the OS. Fedora 15 using the new Gnome 3 GUI interface as default and like I said in my previous post, it is very heavy on the resources. Now it’s time for another Linux disto check out. Stay tune, and always remember, it’s just my 2 cents.

Many Flavors of Linux - Happy Linux administration

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hello folks, well it’s been a few moments in time, since I post something on the blog, I guess I haven’t been inspired, just tired. Hey… Hey…. Hey… I have been experimenting with different Linux Distros. The one I’m currently using is Fedora 15. I like it, very good and robust OS. The desktop interface call Gnome 3 is very nice. Gnome 3 is very heavy on the resource though, you need to have at least 1 GB of ram to really function with the desktop. So far I have test driven Ubuntu 11, and Fedora 15 Project. I will be testing other as well. Finally, reading up on Linux administration. I have a book on Linux admin on my kindle. Very nice in it’s approach. Don’t let many distos of Linux fool you. Linux will kick back a lock up on the screen, and applications can crash. But-over-all, the many faces of linux flavors works way much better then Windows. That’s just my 2 cents.

How is your social media experience -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hello folks, how are you doing with your social media experiences? These days, social media plays a big role in sharing information. The big thing is what you sharing and can get you in trouble or make you a national hero.
To me social media makes bloggers or writers a like to have some sort of balance toward being notice. Watching every post as it flows though the controls of the Internet.
I’m sure you have been reading about that NY Congressman that got in trouble for “tweet-mackin” on Twitter. The number one rule on twitter is to be careful how you tweet. I bet he wished he never joined twitter. We should never take anything for granted, and think you going to get away with it. Everything has a benefit and Consequent. That’s my 2 cents.

Is it the end of Skype as we know it?

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hey folks, when I read the article that Microsoft is set to buy Skype, I said yep.. it’s time for another blog moment. As you know, over the years when big tech companies buys a small companies trade mark applications, it’s usually for; one they see more profit.. or two, they can’t compete against the software so the buy it; The old saying “if you can’t beat them, then join them” method. I mean come on, let's face it; what is Microsoft going to do with Skype? Can you say not make if free anymore? Yes say it… you know it…

It would be interesting to know why Microsoft wanted to buy Skype, maybe Skype wanted to sale the software anyway. Let's wait and see what will be of Skype, will it be the same, or will things change. That’s my 2 cents.

Keep the Desktop PC units hopes alive -

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Hey folks, just read an article about the slow sales of Personal Computers desktop units in the past year of 2010. I must say, I like technology and innovation, put those 2 together, rest of assured, change is coming. I appreciate the PC Desktop Unit. I hate to see it fading away. I’m a System builder hobbyist, an Enthusiast about the technology; PC building is an art form to me. Times are changing, and with that, so is the way we view our computer experience. The invention of the tablet PC like the “Motorola” Zoom, and the Dreaded “Apple” iPad, the Desktop unit is about to make its’ day-view out the door. As for me, it will be a long, long time to see the disappearance of the Desktop Unit in my house.

As Computers get smaller and more what I call embedded, we will see the slow migration from Desktop Units to tablets or similar such technologies. Smart phones and Tablets PC, are making the migration faster than one would think. Man…. I hate to see the Desktop unit disappearing though. That’s my 2 cents.

What was your first Computer experience?

Hi I’m KG the Techie –

Did you hear… commodore 64 is making a come- back to the Personal computer market. Commodore 64 was the premier computer back in “hey wow techie days” in history. Commodore 64 was where I got my first taste of computer programming. Wow what fun back then.

It’s great talking about the days where you first got into technology. Actually my first revolving computer I’ve own was a “Pack from hell” yes indeed a Packard Bell computer, that way back in 1993. That computer was junk, I bought it from Wal-mart. They had a sale on it. On the sale sign, it said buy it as is, right there… I should have known, something was wrong with that system.

I had a friend of mine, looked it over, at the time, back then, I had little knowledge of computer parts or even knowing how to repair anything dealing with computers. That soon changed, my friend showed me the ropes on computer technology like in 1993, and I’ve been involved with building my own computers and knowledge about technology since then. That’s my 2 cents.

More Smart phone mumble Jumble - Can you believe it's Intel this time -

Hi I’m KG the Techie,

Well… just so you know… I read an article today about “Intel going into the Smartphone business”. So now what…. are we going to see the words “Intel inside” on our smart-phones? Businesses need to stick with what really works for them, and Intel is known for its’ computer processors and chipsets. Of course they specialize in other technologies to. Why would they want to make a mark on Smart-phones? Perhaps, it’s to show off their nano processors technology? Maybe they want to entice us with their smooth electronics components of ICs (Integrated Circuits), after all that is what “Intel stand for, right? You know…. We maybe you don’t know, it’s Integrated Electronics. We all know they probably won’t be using the Android OS as they OS on the phone. Intel most likely will be step with the Microsoft Windows 7 OS for their OS of choice on their Smart-phones. But what do I know. We’ll have to wait and see. Perhaps they’ll have something better than the Droid. I doubt it… but we will see… that’s my 2 cent…

What you think about 3D-TV - amazing technology -

Hi I’m KG the Techie,

Who is ready for 3D-TV, any takers? I tell you, the Technology is here, for 3D-TV. Right , it’s too expensive to me . Right now as it stand, the supply and demand is just too High. Those prices are very High to. Oh lawd, I can’t afford that. Hey check out CNET Website for some interesting FAQs about 3D-TV.

Why 3D TV anyway? What advantages do you have with 3D-TV? These are many Questions you can find from CNET Website . I was reading some of the questions you may ask about it. Like what is 3D-TV. All I know is the technology is outstanding ridiculous. Is it worth it? You be the judge the future is coming and it could be a 3D TV in your dwelling place.  Have fun, that’s my 2 cent…

Motherboards connecting technology to the world -

Sunday, March 20, 2011
Hi I’m KG the Techie….
Welcome again to my area of blog domain, this blog is merely going to share with you my interest and favorite part of the Personal Computer Technology; “ The Motherboard” . I tell you, rather you believe this or not, we should pay some attention to the Motherboard, for it’s the central part of the computer, without it, there would be no computer technology. All the computer calculations are done on the Motherboard. Everything that connects to the computer is actually connected to the motherboard. Hmm, makes one think, why the Motherboard is call the mother of all boards. Well to be technical correct about it, the motherboard is also call the system board and for you Apple users it’s call the Logic board. But it seems people is still stuck on the words “Motherboards” . I tell you, I understand why, I mean really society view mothers as the ones that keeps things together, So why not call the system board the Motherboard, after all, it’s keeps everything connected it together. Let check out what the technologies resides on the motherboards.
Motherboards has been a-part of the computer history really since the birth of IC(Integrated Circuit) also a place for the brain of the computer to house which is call the CPU (Central Processing Unit) or Processor for short. Don’t forget storage, yeah in the computer, there is all kind of Storage house on or connected to the Motherboard. Back in the 70s the backplane was mainly used just for holding wires together, then came the 80’s. I speculate IBM really had something to do with the growth of the motherboard. But you can’t rule out Apple. The technology just got better and better, the Motherboard was used to hold more IC Chips call (Super I/O) for many things we take for granted today, like sound, video, and modem connectivity, and also even network interface cards, build right into the Motherboard. You really have to give props to the technology. I mean really, not only legacy devices has a place to connect to, also Plug and Play devices had a place to as well. The Motherboard bridged the union between every piece of technology we have connected to it. Yes even your webcam. “HeHe”
Wow, it’s amazing to see really how this piece technology effects our computer life experiences. I tell you, it’s really a exciting to how it all works. I have favorite types of Motherboard Brands I like, merely because I used them for a long time. What is the considered to be a life of a single Motherboard? That is a good question, well I feel you really have do research and find out. But with saying that, in my 2 cents worth, I would say about 5 years. The reason I say 5 years because, you have to consider the growth rate of technology, also when you need to update the bios on the board itself. Oh lawd, did I say “Bios”, well I need to save that for other blog time (”hehehe”), but I tell you, the bios is the firmware on the Motherboard itself. At any-rate, we should all pay great attention to the legacy of the Motherboard; it is truly the Tech in Computers even to this day. Well folks this my 2 cents in Technology. Tune in next time for more blogging from me, this is fun stuff. 

What Smart phone are you using, I love that technology -

Friday, March 18, 2011 08:10 AM

Hi I’m KG the Techie…

Now a–days, everyone got a smart phone, you turn around you see one going right by you. Hey look at there, chances are you have one with now. If you think I got one, well you’ll be thinking right. I like my Motorola Droid. It goes where ever I go, and then some. I first was introduced to Blackberry smart-phones, when got my first one. It was the blackberry Curve 8320 and at the time, it was great. As I notice the applications was not all good though. The one thing I notice about smart-phones it’s a combination of hardware and software that makes the smart-phone an asset or a piece of junk. So when you ready for the smart-phone technology, it’s best to do some research. Look at the difference in technologies, and it also can be a trick, providing if you know, who is providing you the service for the phone. Smart-phone technology is really based on the applications you use as well. I really like my Droid for the many free apps I use. Check some sites that focus on Technology Specs and rating of other user for your smart choice. I like CNET for many of my tech spec researches; they have a nice lay out on their website. http://www.cnet.com , check out the site, if you like. I know I go there a lot. You have to bare with me on my blog style. I’m trying to get some help with that.  At any-rate, smart-phones are so much of a handy piece of technology, I believe they going to stay around for long time. It’s just going to get better and better.

Finally.. Considering using the Amazon Kindle -

Monday, March 14, 2011 5:38:18 AM

Hi I'm KG The Techie...

So I'm trying out this blogging excitement, to see if I like this writing stuff. I'm KG the Techie, just sharing my 2 cents about all things technological.

Hey Folks, well I finally got on the e-reader band wagon. I am really considering thinking about getting me a Amazon Kindle for reading my books for now on. When they first made their appearance way back when, I wasn't impressed with the technology. I didn't see a need for the technology. E-books readers have a long history and according to Wikipedia, it dates back to 1971.

For me, I have always been a old fashion reader of real books, and never thought to use technology for my book reading.  Technology has a way of catching up with you, once you see the practical or tactical use for it.  Well as I make my journey to explore ebook reading, you folks stay tuned, I will be doing some research on them and see how that Amazon kindle work for me, and of course I'll reading the manual for sure. I am not a Gadget Guru. :)
